Love it!! I had Dungeness crab, corn, and potatoes. Hubby had a rack of ribs. We both had our favorite foods. Crab shack Lemonade was tasty as well. Devoured it all! Loved the beach front atmosphere. We will definitely be back when the weather warms up.

Locals and visitors alike love the ambience at the Crab Shack. You can dine inside or outside any time of the year. There is something for everyone to enjoy from the exotic birds to feeding the alligators. Everyone loves the Crab Shack and their amazing low country boils.

What a great meal. We shared a little crab with a friendly kitty and then cleaned our plates! The regional beers were fun. A little conversation with the birds completed a perfect day! (Thanks Megan for great service!)

Great atmosphere and fun for the kids... but the quality of food is not worth the price . They are definitely NOT about the environment... plastic ware , foam cups , foam dinnerware . Considering they are right next to the ocean, you would think they would care about the sea animals since they provide for their business ? I say I recommend the crab shack Bc it is a fun place for family and friends but I have had better food at small mom and pop places.

First timers. We loveddd the atmosphere!! We sat outside facing the water. Our server was nice and helpful. The food portions were a good size for the money. You can feed the gators if you want. They do have cats walking around the same area you eat, which I wasn’t fond of!

A fun place to enjoy some seafood. I love that NOTHING is fried. I also like the kitties running around and the kiddos stay busy with the gator area. I ordered the sampler so I could try it all. Everything was good. Not out of this world, but good.

6 of us went for dinner. We got the sample platter that was so much food! The food was great! Alex was our waiter and was friendly and efficient. After, we walked through the bird house. Although it’s sad to see these birds that have been displaced, it’s wonderful that Crab Shack is taking care of them.

We absolutely love this place. We have to make this stop every single time we are in Savannah. Sometimes it’s the only reason we are in Savannah! If you are looking for something super fancy with mediocre food, this isn’t for you, but if you want casual dining with seafood cooked to perfection, do not pass this place up! The atmosphere is great for all ages. Tons of seating indoors and on the deck. The sampler platter is by far the way to go! The portions are more than enough. Don’t go unless you want to be hooked like us. We’ve been going for years! Simply amazing.

Ricky and I travel to Tybee often just to have dinner. A 3 hour trip. We love the Crab Shack for many reasons. The food is great, and fresh. We always order the Captain's platter. The atmosphere is pure, beach side perfection. Make sure to request the best waiter in Georgia, Geno. Great service with a wonderful personality. He has waited on us often. Geno makes a great dinning experience even better.

This a must for us when in the area. We love it!! However this last time service was extremely slow. Waited over 15 mins for drinks. Waitress dropped them off and she would be right back. Another 10-15 mins passed. Had to get a bus boy to locate her. Good was delicious but we didn't get refills on drinks. We wrapped up our meal and asked for our ticket. Never had a bad experience in years past so still give 4 stars!

Went there tonight & in spite of how busy it was we were seated in less than 10 minutes. Drinks & dinner were just as prompt. Had the Half & Half...shrimp & crab legs and they were excellent....cooked just right with just the right amount of seasoning and a large portion. Service was excellent as well.

We were told about this place by some really good friends. They raved how awesome it was, and they didn't lie. Barry was our waiter, he waa awesome. He was attentive, even went out of his way to get crayons of every color for my step son. Food was amazing.. Very large portions. The kids were happy feeding the gators, petting the cats, and that alone is worth the visit. Will always eat here when I come to Tybee.

What a wonderful place! The food is amazing! My husband and older daughter shared a platter while my younger daughter and I enjoyed the BBQ (so good!). We also thoroughly enjoyed touring the grounds, gift shop, and dock. It was more of an experience than a restaurant. Highly recommend!

We came to eat at your establishment today. The food and service was wonderful. Props to our server Alex. He was awesome. My only problem was when we visited your bird room, connected to your gift shop and met Bonnie, your 55 year old parrot(?). Bonnie was in poor shape. She is a large bird in a cage that's way too small for her and she's missing alot of feathers that it seems she'd pulled off of herself. I'm not an ornithologist, by any means, but I do believe that a bird shouldn't be pulling its own feathers out, cowering in the corner and only moving to try and attack and bite people. I approached one of your employees and asked her about Bonnie, but she told me that she didn't handle the birds. She was as sweet as can be, but she couldn't seem to point me in the right direction to speak with whomever takes care of your birds. I'm just asking that you consider taking Bonnie to a vet or to a place where she can live out the rest of her days happy and healthy. I'm not trying to bad mouth your establishment, I'm just asking you to show some compassion. She is not okay. I really hope this reaches someone that takes it seriously.Thank you.

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience here! Although we did not eat any food (did not realize you ordered a large platter instead of individual meals and we had 3 children that didn’t eat that particular seafood) we offered to pay for our drinks before leaving, since we weren’t going to eat, and our server was so amazing and understanding! She told us not to worry about the drinks! Of course we paid her anyways! But she was so kind about the ordeal and she even suggested other restaurants to us that had fried seafood that the kids would eat! The atmosphere was rustic and very touristy. They have pet cats that walk around freely which I think is wonderful, and they also have an alligator exhibit and a gift shop with birds/parrots in it. Although it is kid friendly, I wouldn’t come if they don’t eat boiled seafood. Limited menu. But if you do go, Audrey was our server and you should ask for her!

This place is amazing. The atmosphere is second only to the taste & quality of the food. My husband and I live over 6 hours away, but still visit this awesome establishment at least twice a year. Our goal is to try everything on the menu at least once. (Personally, I'm sold on the low country boil & delicious stuffed crab.)

This place was fantastic. The parking was atrocious and we had to inch our way out of the tight squeeze we found ourselves in but what a great dinner. First time I ever tried crawfish. The other seafood was great as well. We sat outside on the desk overlooking the water. What a great dinner with friends enjoying the food and the ambiance.

This was one of two restaurants suggested by our hotel front desk, and most certainly the better of the two. We were in the mood specifically for seafood and we got a bunch of it at the Crab Shack! Restaurant was empty, we were promptly seated - very open floor plan, sitting inside even felt like we were in an outside like atmosphere.Ana greeted us, was an excellent guide through the menu to get us exactly what we were in the mood for without us having to study the menu. The 4 of us ended up with a dozen raw oysters and the Captain's Crab Sampler Platter for 3 - a good amount of food for us all. We enjoyed a few Long Islands during dinner and the seafood was a hit.Ana gave us the ins and outs about the island, history and more, she without a doubt made the visit worth it - food was a 4/5, drinks 4/5 but her service a rock solid 5!Thanks for making the beginning of our Christmas Trip a great start!

Both times visiting Tybee we have eaten at the Crab Shack. Loved it! We ordered the sampler for 2 to feed 3 people and had enough leftovers to feed 2 more. They are definitely not stingy on their food. They want you to leave full and happy. The staff was amazing! Me nor my husband had ever tried clams, our waitress took time to show us the proper way to, also how to properly peel shrimp. I would recommend this place to anyone who visits. Just remembered to go early as there is always a wait. There are several things to do as you wait like feed the alligators and shop in the gift shop which also have birds to look and talk to. I'm wanting to go back as I talk about it!

We got the Captains Sampler for 1 which was plenty full for the two of us for lunch. The sausage wasn’t special but it was ok, had mussels and crawfish for the first time, I liked the crawfish but the mussels not so much. For an appetizer we had the clams which were tasty. Gino our waiter was very attentive and friendly. We’ll definitely be back next time we’re in GA

We've eaten at the crabshack on Tybee Island a number of times. Savanna and Tybee Island or one of the destinations that we love to take mini vacations to. We always get the same thing will get a rum drink in the big platter of mixed seafood for two it is outrageously good the people of fun the place is full of energy it's just a great place to go we love it. I hope that there was no damage from the hurricane. We live in Southeast Florida and Hurricane Irma has really given us quite a bad hit.

FROM FISHING CAMP TO TYBEE STAPLE!
In the 1930’s before there was “The Crab Shack”, these 4 acres of high ground meandering along the banks of Chimney Creek was outfitted as place for locals to put their boats in the water, buy bait, pick up a few “necessaries” - of which cold beer was one. Over the years, the owners (at the time) allowed a few small camper trailer owners to rent space on the grounds. The name Chimney Creek Fishing Camp became synonymous with good fishing trips, camping trips, or just sitting around the pot-bellied stove in the concrete block building called the “marina” and telling lies about fish caught…or not. Some locals docked their boats, some used the hoist, but they all stopped in now and again to have a cold beer and tell a tall tale.

Jack and Belinda Flanigan were living in Atlanta, Georgia in 1983 when they read a “fish camp for sale” ad in the newspaper. Having left Savannah and Hinesville, respectively, for Atlanta, they both knew the area well and longed for a kinder, gentler lifestyle. So, they made an offer, bought the place, and moved to Tybee. They worked hard running the fishing camp and marina while studying for their Captain’s licenses. After getting the official “Captain” titles, they added Charter fishing services to the operation with Jack running offshore Charters in The Creek 1, (which is still docked in the number one position at the marina to this day), and Belinda running inshore fishing trips in a smaller boat (which is still on the property, too.) The fishing was great. There were plenty of delectably fat blue crabs to be had by just throwing a trap in the creek, and a shrimp net tossed off the back of either charter boat brought enough tasty crustaceans for a good low country boil. Everyone wanted a place to gather and cook these gifts from the sea. Tybeenians love to gather around food – particularly seafood.

The location was great, the sunsets were beautiful, the weather was right, and no one knows at which of these “gatherings” the Crab Shack was born. But it happened. A table here, a table there. More people – locals at first, then friends of locals, then friends of friends, then strangers and then a business license. Still just a few tables with Jack cooking &, Belinda waiting tables. Just a few hours a day a few days a week – still running the marina and fishing camp and charters. Then, folks wanted a libation with their seafood. Jack and Belinda and some friendly locals came together. Just like the old fashioned “barn raising”, a “bar raising” was accomplished on the day the first liquor license was granted to The Crab Shack. That first “bar” for the Crab Shack now serves as the hostess station….be sure to check it out on the web site. Hard to believe this all started there. The first menu was drawn on a 4 X 8 sheet of plywood and hung on a wall where it could be seen from all 6 tables. That same menu is proudly hung over the front door of the main dining room today, but has been replaced for customers with placement sized renditions and many, delicious additions. The outdoor restroom building is the same building that was constructed as restrooms for the fishing village on the property during the 50’s. The Gift Shack and aviary is the same building that housed the marina and bait shop since the 30’s. When you think about it, with all the relics of it’s “old days” still being in use or displayed today, it could be called The Crab Institution.
